01  /  About

Who we are.

Golden Grace is a residential support community for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, founded and based in Wichita, Kansas. We provide a real home - not a facility - where residents are supported by trained Direct Support Professionals who walk with them, day-to-day, as they grow.

Our work is built on a simple conviction: individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve the same things the rest of us do - a front door of their own, a job that matters, friends who know their name, and a life of purpose. We help make that possible through support in vocational, recreational, daily living, and community integration skills.

How it works.

Residents have a private home of their own, with trained Direct Support Professionals providing support in the rhythm of ordinary life - cooking dinner, getting to work, calling a friend, and making plans.

Helping each person served build everyday life skills, at a pace that works for them.

  • Emotional support

A steady, caring presence and someone to lean on.

  • Nutritional meals

We plan healthy, home-cooked meals to suit the needs, choices, and preferences of each resident.

Prescriptions kept organized, on time, and on track.

  • Community engagement

Belonging to the neighborhood and the life of the city.

  • Transportation services and support

Reliable rides to day-services, work, appointments, and the other activities that make up daily life.

06  /  FAQ

Common questions.

For families considering Golden Grace for a loved one.

  1. Who is Golden Grace for?

Golden Grace is a home for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who want to live independently - with the right support beside them. Most of our residents work or volunteer in the community, and want a real home of their own.

If you're unsure whether Golden Grace would be a fit for your loved one, the best next step is a conversation. We'll ask about their day-to-day, what kind of support helps them thrive, and what they're hoping for in a home. There are no wrong answers.

  2. Is Golden Grace licensed and certified?

Yes. Golden Grace is a fully state-licensed and certified provider, which means we meet the state's standards for resident safety, staffing, and quality of care - and we're held accountable to them. We're glad to share our credentials with any family considering a home with us.

  3. What does daily life look like?

Mornings are ordinary - coffee, breakfast, getting ready for the day. During the day, most residents head out into the community for day services - work, volunteering, day programs, appointments, or hobbies - with support from their Direct Support Professional as needed. Evenings are shared meals, downtime, neighborhood walks, a favorite show.

Weekends look like weekends: church, a movie, time with family, a project around the house. We help residents build the routines and skills of a full adult life, at the pace that fits them.

  4. What kind of support do Direct Support Professionals provide?

Direct Support Professionals support residents across four areas: vocational (work and career), independent living (cooking, cleaning, money, medication), recreation and leisure (hobbies, friendships, fitness, faith), and community integration (neighborhood life, civic participation, lasting relationships).

The level of support is matched to the resident - some need a quiet check-in, others want a partner for the harder parts of the day.

  5. How are Direct Support Professionals selected and trained?

Direct Support Professionals are recruited carefully and trained in person-centered support, communication, behavioral health basics, and crisis response. We hire for character first - patience, warmth, follow-through, the ability to see the adult in front of them - then build the skills on top.

DSPs commit to working with the same residents for an extended period so residents experience consistency, not turnover.

  6. Can family stay involved?

Absolutely - and we want you to. Families are part of every resident's life: visits, calls, holidays, family events. We'll set the rhythm of communication together based on what works for your family and what your loved one wants. Family input shapes the support plan, and we'll always loop you in on anything significant.

  7. How do I start the conversation?

Use the contact form on this page, or email contact@mygoldengrace.com. Tell us a little about your loved one - what they enjoy, what's hard, what you're hoping a home like Golden Grace could provide. We'll respond within a few business days.

There's no application fee, no obligation, and no wrong reason to reach out.
